Oregon, Braintree

I now have in possession a shiny new Garmin Oregon! I have to say, so far I'm very impressed. I took it out for a day's caching on Wednesday and the first cache I went to, the Oregon was spot on. So it seems that it's very accurate. I also love the fact that all the cache descriptions upload to the unit as well as the co-rds. This is true paper-less caching. Another useful tool is the fact that you can upload the notes you make in the field directly to the Geocaching website, all from the same Oregon unit.

On the downside, I did have trouble seeing the screen, at times. I works beautifully in direct sunlight, but can be difficult to see in shade. I've now turned up the backlight intensity, which may help.

All-in-all, a cracking bit of kit. I'll keep posting little bits on the Oregon's performance as I use it.

Still no news on the earthcache. Should hear by the middle of next week at the latest.

I also hope to have news on the coin within the next few days, although I think I may have said that last week! I reckon it'll be November before it's on sale, now.

Hopefully be planting my first mystery cache this weekend. If I can find a suitable place for it, I think it'll be a corker!
